COOKEVILLE – Cookeville has become well-known for producing champions over the past several years. The state’s high school football playoffs culminate at Tennessee Tech. The Fittest Man on Earth, Rich Fronning, calls Cookeville home. And now another world champion is putting the Upper Cumberland on the map.

Jason Petty, the 2012 International Window Film Tint-Off champion, recently opened The Window Tint Company at 1615 Brown Ave., Suite 5, in Cookeville with his wife, Suzy.

The International Window Film Tint-Off is an annual event sponsored by Window Film Magazine that showcases the skills of the world’s greatest window film technicians. Petty participated in both the 2012 and 2013 events, and plans on entering this year’s competition, which will be held in Baltimore, Md., in October.

“Earning that title gave me the confidence to branch out on my own to provide a different level of service to Cookeville and the Upper Cumberland,” said Petty, who has worked for several area tinting companies since moving to Cookeville in 1999. “It was a great experience, and I’m excited to help not just auto owners, but residential and commercial customers as well.”

While window tinting is most commonly associated with the auto industry, there are several advantages to using window film in residential and commercial settings. Petty described several tint applications that can reduce energy costs, enhance privacy and improve comfort.

“Temperature control, energy savings and glare reduction are the most obvious benefits to using window film,” he said. “Businesses can also prevent inventory from falling victim to UV damage and fading with the proper window tint protection. Specialized applications can have the same effect as frosted glass, providing privacy for conference rooms or even in residential bathrooms.”
